The Board of Directors of Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ – $45.72) declared a quarterly dividend of $0.565 per share, an increase of 1.5 cents per share, or 2.7%, from the previous quarter. On an annual basis, this increases Verizon’s dividend by 6 cents per share, from $2.20 to $2.26 and will yield investors 4.9% at current levels. The quarterly dividend is payable on Nov. 2, 2015, to Verizon Communications shareowners of record at the close of business on Oct. 9, 2015. This is the ninth consecutive year Verizon’s Board has approved a quarterly dividend increase. At the recent quotation, Verizon stock’s appreciation potential through the latter years of this decade is quite appealing, especially when viewed on a risk-adjusted basis.
