UBS Investment Bank announced that it has declared a coupon payment on the ETRACS Alerian MLP Index ETN (NYSE: AMU – $19.08) of $0.3396. The current distribution compares to the $0.3395 paid in the first quarter. The annualized yield based on a continuance of the quarterly rate will yield investors 7.1% at current levels. Commodity-related equities and related instruments have been plagued by low energy prices, but it appears that the components of the master limited partnerships tacked in the note were able to provide sufficient income to sustain the payout for AMU. Patient, income-minded investors can retain positions in the exchange traded note for eventual recovery in oil and gas prices and an improved domestic economy.
