Verizon Boosts Dividend

Verizon Communications, Inc. (NYSE: VZ – $54.21) said its Board of Directors raised the quarterly dividend by 2.1% to $0.6025, marking the 12th consecutive year of dividend increases. The new payout, up $0.0125 from a previous level of $0.59, is payable Nov. 1 to shareholders of record on Oct. 10. The new annual dividend at the current rate is $2.41 per share and yields 4.4%. The shares remain reasonably valued and conservative investors may continue to hold the high-quality stock for above-average total returns.
